Tests for Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip

These illustrations show the Barlow maneuver (right) and Ortolani maneuver (left), which are used to diagnose developmental dysplasia of the hip in infants. If the hip can be dislocated using the Barlow maneuver, the test is considered positive. The Ortolani maneuver is positive if an already dislocated hip can be reduced using the maneuver.
