Polyps
Polyps may grow with or without a stalk (a thin piece of tissue that joins the polyp to the intestinal wall, similar to how the neck joins the head to the body). The polyp on the left is attached directly to the wall of the large intestine and does not have a stalk. The polyp on the right does have a stalk. After a biopsy, doctors determined that both polyps were noncancerous (benign).
